one should never take criticism as a personal attack

i personally don't understand where any of the hostility is coming from on this site. like, i am not really sure what you are talking about- there being aggression or something.

we all contribute to eachother and i think we really, for the most part, agree with one another.

we have differences in album preference and whatnot, but i think this specific thread shows us that we actually do get along.

we might bicker amongst ourselves, but i think that is simply born out of being on the internet. we can't really hear eachother's tone of voices, ya know?

i think we all in this thread understand that there are crazy fan(ataic)s and there are people who enjoy the aesthetics of the band.

we also have different lives and different experiences. we all don't know everything, and that goes for the band. i think it is very valuable for all of us to lay our cards on the table and share with eachother so we do have a larger sense of ourselves and who we are as a whole in this little community.

we should never take criticism as a personal attack- but there is no waste in debating criticism and try to get to the root of issues you might have with someone else, or another's ideas.

i have been coming up with a few ideas for posts. one that i really like is posting a song and disecting it and then asking for others opinions on what the song might mean and a critique of my critique. even just posting a song and sharing what it means to you or how it helped us in any way.

i think if we all did this each week it would be really fun. i think i am at an age where i have gone back to the music at different points in my life and have discovered it on a different level each time. i would really want to hear others view points on specific songs and lyrics.

(i am currently listening to an 11 hour lecture on literary criticism and i am really anxious to apply it to the pumpkins.

sound fun?

who wants to begin?
