REVIEWS/COMMENTS
Wonderful

This album is one of the most beautiful and personal work of theirs. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most unappreciated. But still, its very good. Long Live SP!!!

Adore...

for me, Adore is the death of Smashing Pumpkins. No, I don't think BC and JC are zombies but the SP i knew, died at this album. Despite the funeral atmosphere, there's such a BEAUTIFUL album. I don't like all the songs, but i like TO MUCH some of them like For Martha, Perfect, Ava Adore, Shame, Blank Page, Dusty & Pistol Pete, Daphne Descends, Appels + Oranjes and Pug.

why i love adore

i had just finished absolutely thrashing Mellon collie when i first picked up Adore and was not expecting it to be half the album as mcis was. i had heard the mixed reviews and listend to my bro when he said it was disappointing. admittedly when i first played it, as i quickly skipped through each song trying to analyse the album i was confused. but not because i was expecting siamese dream or mcis. i was completely taken back by the maturity and individuality of the music and lyric i was lisening to. i immediately fell in love with every song on this album, each for its own unique narrative beauty. i love how billys poetry takes you to another place, seemingly enchanting yet never too far from reality. you can hear every ounce of loss, pain and redemption in his voice. Adore is nothing short of a masterpiece. listen to it!

Blank Page

There's nothing to say.
This album's surely the best album of SP.
And Blank Page's best song.

i love this album!

This was my first SP album and is still my favourite
I randomly picked it up one day when I was just going through a music shop found this CD and thought they had the coolest band name ever. I'd never even heard of them before.
So I bought it and took it home.
I put it on and To Sheila came on and it was so beautiful I nearly cried then if that wasn't enough it went straight into Ava Adore then into Perfect.
I was only into punk then and I was astounded that they could have so many different styles and sounds right next to each other. They could do beautiful, then angry and heavy and then something else. And it would all fit.

I've never gone back to punk

This is my favourite

this is my favourite album. I love how relaxed it is, the ammount of accoustic songs etc. It's just got this really nice sound. It's good for any mood I'm in, It can calm me down if I'm angry or upset, or just keep me smiling when I'm happy. I love this album, it's my favourite album EVER.

Just great

At the very beginning, when adore appeared and I bought itand listened to it for the very first time, I thought that it was a mess...what hapopened to the pumpkins that rocked on mellon collie???? but then I took my time and I listened carefully, and it is great, one of the best albums in my opinion, even when songs like bullet , zero or x.y.u. don't appear here, the albums talks for itself, it's another side of the pumpkins, which is fabulous. Love you guys!

only a true fan

i believe for those of you out there that want to talk crap about such a great album really need to go back and listen not only to this album but any other one that you just so happen to find that may be as open as this was. and trust me it's hard to do. most of the bands that we've gotten for the past 10 yrs or so have all been crap. all it has become is talking to a beat, and i'm sorry, but it's not good enough for me. in this album you get what you should get. a chance to hear beautiful poetry that strikes the very being of yourself when you need it most. and that's the true music. poetry of the soul.
in this i feel like he really exposed himself to us. almost like opening his personal diary. and what did some do? they spat on it, and treated it like it was nothing of importance. but thank you to those who have embraced it and continue to feel the love it sends out. you are the true sp fans, and hopefully with all of the love and support we have for him billy will have no excuse to leave ever again.

Make more beautiful poetry billy, we love it!

Adore is wonderful.

This album is special to me because I love how vulnerable it is. Billy's life was in shambles, and I think this album really expressed that without ever being whiny or "woe is me". "For Martha" was a lovely tribute to his mum, and songs like "Crestfallen" and "Blank Page" really show the pain he felt towards his divorce. I love the emotion; thats one of the firs things I look for in an album is "how expressive is it? How authentic are the words and feelings?" This is truly the most expressive album from the band to date.

The beats to the tracks are so fun; the melody to songs like "Ava Adore" and "Pug" are half the fun.

One of my favorites, for sure. Anyone who bailed out on the pumpkins after Mellon Collie made a bad choice, because this cd is truly remarkable.

I really adore Adore!

Sorry for the awful pun haha.
Anyway, I can't flaw this record.
It's a more mature sound for them, it's very different obviously, but I think it's a natural and interesting step they took in making this.
I think it has some of the most beautiful songs the Pumpkins have ever written on it, I still get goosebumps listening to Behold! The Nightmare, Perfect always puts a smile on my face, and For Martha always makes me tear up.
When I've had a long day and want to chill, I stick on Adore, and I feel better.
I can see how it's not to everyone's taste, but personally it'll always be a favourite of mine.

As soon as I got it, I couldn't stop listening to it. I really love the song "Once Upon A Time". It's sad. But in a good way.

rebirth of the pumpkins

it's different. way too different for that matter because the gish-siamese dream and MCIS sound is not there anymore. it was gone without warning or a smooth transition. it's like listening to a new band. and that's what turned most pumpkinheads off. some were dumbfounded and some were even angry. but i actually like it (not as much as i liked gish and siamese dream though). i'm still deeply rooted to that era of the band when billy still has his hair with him, but i don't dismiss something good when it sounds so different from it just like that-as was the case for adore. wihtout change, there wouldn't be any progress at all. the problem is that not all think that way.

i love crestfallen and it's insecurities. ava adore is just plain beautiful. it's like a perfect love song, then billy chews it all up and he spits it in your face, and the reult is a perfectly beautiful song. billy's genius shine on that one. tear and for martha are also beautiful. the only one i couldn't figure out though was perfect. it's so cheesy.

some sp fans had a hard time with the new sound, but i actually think it's a good album. the insane distortions may be gone (except for the songs for martha and ava adore) and the layered guitars may be gone as well, but the consolation is a more moody and eclectic sp then armed with drum machines and synths. beauty can be perceived from it as long as you wouldn't stay stagnant with the band's old materials. and that's coming from a gish-siamese dream fan

smashing pumpkins are not typical

this album is good, many people don't see that , but it is sentimental, i mean , billy's mom passed away, he got divorced, jimmy was kicked off the band.... he just put his feelings on the lyrics, as he always has done... every single album has its sound, every album is different , we should be greatful because there are a lot of bands doing the same shit over and over...
