Saturday, April 19, 2008 - 9:26 pm - KidCorgan
This was my second SP album (after Rotten Apples). I didn't know how much I liked this group so I downloaded it since it was free. At the time I didn't like it all that much (except I LOVED If There Was A God (Piano Vox). Now that this is my favorite band and I own 3 days worth of Billy's songs, I can trully appreciate how AMAZING this album is.

I know that you are going to think I am full of shit but years and years ago when I first started getting into the Smashing Pumpkins (I was a little late). I went to buy one of their cd's and saw Machina II at the store I was at.I bought it b/c I had never even heard of them having this CD. This store didn't sell any kind of bootlegs or pre-owned albums. I was just wondering why I cant find any record of this ANYWHERE on the internet? Supposedly what I have doesn't exist... but I have it. The case is simple, the artwork is just one page and it includes the following tracklist (all titles are as they appear)and only one disc.

Glass Theme
Cash Car Star
Dross
Real Love
Go
Let Me Give The World To You
Innosence
Home
Blue Skies Bring Tears
White Spider
In My Body
If There Is A God
Le Deux Machina
Here's To The ATom Bomb
SLow Dawn
Vanity
Saturnine
Glass Theme 2 (Spacey Version)
Cash Car Star 2 (Different Lyrics)
Speed Kills
SOul Power
If There Is A God 2 (Piano/Vocals Version)

How Cool Machina 2 is.

I love this album, although it is only on vinyl and downloadable off of the internet. Cash Car Star, and Satur9 are probably the greatest songs.

Death of the Smashing Pumpkins
Sunday, April 6, 2008 - 3:33 am - Lungingweasel
How can one possibly describe the beauty that is Machina 2? As Billy Corgan said at the final metro show, "Welcome to the death of the smashing pumpkins.."

Picking up where the first Machina left off, it continues the tale of Glass; the rockstar gone mad. Meant as the scrapped second disc to the planned dual disc Machina, Virgin opted out of this one. Luckily the band "released" this material anyway, and it is available free on this very site.

Slow Dawn, Vanity, Cash Car Star, an alternate version of Try Try Try, and a remix of Blue Skies Bring Tears make this a must for any SP fan. Albeit; try to keep an open mind, this material is much more experimental then anything else they have released.

Machina II FYI
Monday, March 24, 2008 - 12:10 pm - PumpkinSmasher101
OK... As the story goes, Machina II obviously was supposed to be a sequel to Machina/ The Machines of God. Rumor around the camp fire is, Machina I and Machina II were supossed to be released together as a double album all in one. However, due to the fact the its predecessor album "Adore" didn't sell well. Therefore, Vigin Records refused to recored the second part which full name is of course Machina II/ The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music. Corgan at this point in time had obviously had it with Virgin and decided to release it a a double LP under his own self-proclaimed "Constantinople Rrecords." The LP, was available on I believe September 5, 2000 and unfortunately, only 25 copies were made. Most of these of course, went to Billy's closest friends and reletives. But, the were availble for a short time. Thus, making this the rarest pumpkin album of them all. The album is considered to be worlth over $10,000 making it a holy grail among all of us here and the rest of the fans so if you got it, consider yourself in good freakin shape. Yesterday, I went on ebay and actually manged to find a copy. I'm not sure if its origional, but either way its priceless as far as my sentimental value goes. The album is a must have and it sure brings back that hard rock feeling the Pumpkins origionally packed during the gish years.

Stellar

I cant believe it. I have had Machina II since 2000 but I just downloaded a clearer version of it today.. WOW what a difference.. I can here the lyrics so much better. This album is amazing. I hope it is officially released somewhere someday. I'm in love with Dross.

Solid record with iffy EPs
Sunday, January 20, 2008 - 4:13 pm - werideatdusk
The "Machina II" album (aka the 2LP set) is a strong album but not nearly as good as the first five Pumpkins albums, with a dearth of truly interesting or emotional songs, though we are treated to gems like "Dross", "Home", and "In My Body". The 3 EPs, meanwhile, are largely filler and outtakes for hardcore fans only, though the songs "Vanity" and "Speed Kills" should have been on the Machina II album, if not Machina I. "Let Me Give the World To You" is good too. Personally, I am not a fan of the lo-fi production style, and this is obviously compounded by poorly-sourced mp3s (the Machina II Mp3's hosted by this website, however, are pretty snappy). Nonetheless, the 2LP portion of this, at least, is a must-have for fans.

Better than MACHINA I
Saturday, January 19, 2008 - 2:03 pm - theafh
I did like MACHINA I, but I just like this one better. It is one of there better albums. If anyone wants to download it, I know the perfect site with a bunch of other awsome SP stuff too, it's www.rspaa.org. You'll love it!

Brilliant

Machina II was the biggest surprise. I can remember when my good friend told the first time about this. He said that this would be a live compilation with a lot of new stuff. He thought this because the extremly noisy "Real Love" ends with a loud noise that sounds like crowd. Than we read about this album and began to listen carefully. It's amazing! A lot of brilliant songs, studio-feeling, naked sounds...strange but cool! Yes, it would be perfect see this officially. Songs like "Vanity", "Real Love", "Let Me Give..." are still my favourites! And there is a masterpiece too, "In My Body", more than 6 minutes deep feeling. Of course there are some tracks that seems not to be finished, but doesn't matter! We want it real!

re: production
Friday, January 18, 2008 - 6:46 am - Fillipe
I actually quite like how raw and stripped down this is album is. I think it would have suffered if they'd done the whole overdub thing. Listen to the two 'Cash Car Stars' for example-the better produced one doesn't have the same punch.

I love that you can hear them talking, the hiss of the amps, feedback and all that. It gives you a refreshing sense of hearing them rock out in a room, rather than getting drowned in the synths and overdubs which took the edge of Machina I.

The Best Secret In Music
Friday, January 18, 2008 - 6:43 am - Fillipe
This really is. It's the one time the Pumpkins have perfectly married their pre-Adore power to their post-Adore atmospherics, and it's incredible. 'Dross' and 'Cash Car Star' (the heavy one) are two of the best Pumpkins songs ever. The alternate versions of 'Try' and 'Atom Bomb' are so much better than those previously released too.

If they had tidied up the tracklisting and got rid of one or two of the fillers, and stuck this out as a 14 song record, it would have been huge.
