Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness...
Monday, May 12, 2008 - 8:56 pm - bestrongnow
I could begin saying that MCIS is my favorite album EVER and EVER and EVER. Sure, The Aeroplane Flies High [box] is the second. But the songs, the lyrics of this album. It sounds to me like BC wrote all of it for me, everytime that i heard this masterpiece of creativity. Mellon Collie looks like a band at their best. Not a simple best, but THAT best, the REAL BEST. I usually divide my life in before MCIS and after MCIS. Whatever, sometimes I think I live inside this songs. THANK YOU, Thank You VERY MUCH for it, Smashing Pumpkins!

A Masterpiece of Modern Day Rock n' Roll
Saturday, April 12, 2008 - 12:38 pm - Greyg_zer0
The Smashing Pumpkins will never die.
After making an awesome second album, as well as another previous masterpiece, "Siamese Dream," respectively, in the summer of 1993, the Smashing Pumpkins blow up all expectations with the seemingly beautiful, intricate and relentless, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" just a week before Halloween in the fall of 1995.

From the beautiful opening instrumental track, through unforgettable tracks such as "Tonight, Tonight," "Porcelina of the Vast Oceans" and "1979," to the doom-infested and wonderfully gloomy, "Farewell and Goodnight," "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" does not disappoint the casual, music listener's ears, let alone any die-hard Pumpkins Fan.
This album changed the way people looked at Rock n' Roll, as well as music today. This album is a great album. It's the album that they were always destined to make.

"Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness" was composed by Jimmy Chamberlin, Billy Corgan, James Iha, and D'arcy Wretzky.
It was produced by Flood and Alan Moulder.

This Album is my Desert Island Disc. It's my first port of call when I just want to be me, and my first offering to Friends who know no better.

My life would not be the same without it!

The best!

This is one of my favorite albums to ever be made, along with "Appetite for Destruction", "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", and "Led Zeppelin IV". I didn't give a single song below a 4 on my media player, and for a double album that's pretty impressive. A gripe I've been having with this site, however, is that some of the best songs have the lowest ratings. In my opinion, the best songs are "Tonight, Tonight", "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", "Porcelina of the Vast Oceans", "1979", "Beautiful" and "Farewell and Goodnight". How the hell does "Tonight" only have a 4.4 while "Stumbeline" and "Bodies", which are good but some of the weakest on the album, have better? Why is "Take Me Down" so low? That's a beautiful song! "X.Y.U" isn't that great either, but apparently it's better than "Bullet". What the hell is that all about? Whatever, if you haven't already heard it do yourself a favor, buy it and get ready to have your mind blown.

I love it.

I don't have words to express how great this album is, but if you are a fan of the pumpkins you know that it is perfect from the first to the last song. The problem here is to choose your favourite one, because all the songs are different and even when one song touch you more than another, it is difficult to pick just one. Mellon collie is an album to remember, I have bought the album like 3 times!!! 'cuz I have to have it on my cd list. Love you pumpkins!!!

well

this album is one of the greats of all time. i love it so. every song on here is great. my heart really belongs to porcelina, that is my favorite of favorites. so many people have said it, and more will say it, this album rocks, and it is forever part of my life, there is not a day that passes since i first heard it that i have not listened to one of the songs from it, and i don't plan on changeing that anytime soon. i am gonna be in the old folks home rocking out to this, along with the other old people, all tattooed and peirced up. so that's it.

the big one!!

I'm not surprised they did so well with this one, it's so [bad word removed]ing awesome, definatley my favourite. all of the songs are amazing, i like the way each song is different, like the difference between something like Tales of a Scorched Earth and Cupid De Locke. i always wish i was older at the time of the release, then i could have been to see them whilst remembering.

Awesome album

Wow! great follow up to siamese. I love the way every song is completely different. I think the best songs are thirty-three, where boys fear to tread, porcelina, tales of a scorched earth and of course bullet with butterfly wings.
I like the sound effects from Doom on where boys fear to tread btw lol

SP 4ever

Mellon Collie embraces every feeling I've ever felt and is my favorite album of all time, with Siamese coming a close second. It's so hard to choose as they are above all other rock albums with their variety and vastness...furthermore it was during this album's touring where I first saw SP live and they absolutely blew my mind at every show. Billy, you are a artistic and musical genius both lyrically and on the guitar, when equipped with Jimmy it can not be described in words the synergy of energy. We new you were never dead! Peace and love, hate and war, we have survived.

Mellon Collie and the Infinate Masterpeice!

What a great Album, second album of SP i got, and from the songs i've heard from the other albums this is still the best (i must admit Siamese Dream and Zeitgeist do come close behind). Amazing songs, amazing band and overall a amazing album!

Mellon Collie,,,
Thursday, February 14, 2008 - 5:13 pm - xxZEROxxMCIS
I dont need to remind everyone how great of an album this is.

My ultimate favorite thing about this record is the variety. Each song sounds different from the next, and each song wouldnt fit quite right on any other SP album. It was designed to have a perfect balance like that. I give the band so much credit for being able to do that. Not many bands have what it takes to change thier style sucessfully track-per-track like the Pumpkins do. This album definantly has the charisma it takes to stand out.

However, I do think we get caught up in the Mellon Collie craze and overrate it sometimes. It also creates a platform for bandwagon jumpers and fair-weather fans.

Overrall, this record is a classic. You can count how many fans that dont have it with your fingers... that makes a statement right there.

Greatest Album!

Yeah, come on, it's the greatest album the pumpkins ever made. It's more than just two CD's full of billy's hate, love and religious-stuff. I like listening to it so many times - over all the years. The world is a vampire...
