My all time favourite record !

What else ? I have listened to it for 10 years and it's always the same : i LOVE it ! there's no explanation...

siamese dream
Friday, June 27, 2008 - 11:10 pm - melhorn
they were able to do something no one else could do: be more popular than all the grunge bands of the grunge era by: not playing grunge music and not being grunge bandwagon sellouts.(i do like grunge though haha)

Greastest album EVER!!!!

This album in my opion is The Smashing Pumkins at their best! It's such a great mixture of alternative rock, heavy grunge, mellow, and prgresive rock. The songs that really that really make this album stand are Cherub Rock, Today, Hummer, Rocket, Disarm, Soma, Geek U.S.A, Mayonaise, and Silverf*ck. I can listen to this entire album with wanting to skip a song, all the songs are great, it's just simply one of the greastest albums of the 90's!

One of the greatest albums of the nineties.

Every year or so an album comes around and changes things. Siamese Dreams is one of those albums. Every track is an excellent song. Except "Sweet Sweet" what the hell were they thinking on this one. Right before the track though (at the end of "silver[bad word removed]" you hear Billy Corgan say "alright this take dont give a [bad word removed]") so maybe not a lot of time was put into it. Just kidding I like the track. The whole album is great. The beginning could not get any better, a drum introduction followed by a building guitar that leads to everything syncing together started off by the lyrics, "Freak out and Give In."

Notable Tracks? You cannot even make a notable tracks list for this album because every single one is awsome. "Quiet" is upbeat and explosive. "Hummer" starts out with a really intriguing rap/reggae vibe that gets broken up by a slap in the face guitar strum. It later breaks down into a slower pace proposing the question "Do you feel love is real" followed by a great guitar melody. "Rocket" displays some more of Corgan's talent on guitar. "Soma" "Geek U.S.A" and "Silver[bad word removed]" are incredible. The introduction to "Geek U.S.A blows you out the water. The lyrics to "Soma" are some of the best and anyone that knows this album knows that there is nothing that can really be said about "Silver[bad word removed]" except "wow." "Spaceboy" starts out with an attention grabbing acoustic sound that leaves you begging to hear more and has some of the greatest lyrical content. Especially "And any way you choose me, We won't be long"

All in all one of the greatest albums of its time. I do not know why Billy Corgan isnt found at the top of more greatest guitarists lists. Guess he's not old enough. But anyway this album is an excellent follow up to Cherub Rock and one of my favorite albums.

what to say?

it's beautiful.
I think all the smashing pumkins albuns have something different and unique (?) from each other and about the music scene in general.
siamese dream is so great about everything: concerts, melody, lyrics, video clips, photographs, art.. is great... it's a mix about the pure happyness, angry and hate.
well.. it's more than it all.

A Fucking Teen's Dream C.D.

From the beginning of Corgan's modernist "Cherub Rock" to his testimonial of love in "Luna," this c.d. was/is a Bible for the disenchanted youth of the United States. You aren't the normal one unless you relate to one of the odes of anxiety laced in this tribute to 1970's and 1990's alternative rock.

My first SP album and still the best!

Ok everyone loves MCIS, but for me this album is by far the best I can listen to this over and over again, especially Soma, Geek USA, Today and Cherub Rock (and what the hell, all the other tracks too lol!). I first listened to this on holiday when i was a kid and never stopped loving them!!! What an album!!!

Siamese Dream...

was the first SP album that I bought. It contains some of my all-time favorite SP songs, like MAYONAISE, HUMMER, TODAY, ROCKET, CHERUB ROCK, SOMA and LUNA. But the whole album is such divine... there's a lot of true feelings at the songs... purity, anger, true love, and specially... hope.

Funny

I think it's funny how people play this one off as being the absolute best, yearning to hear more of this kind of sound, and yet the ratings for the songs are less than five stars!

This album is a masterpiece, in my opinion, and I love it as much as any SP album. Rock on!

The Album that Redefined; The Album that Captured the Greatness which was the 90's.

This album is an unforgettable piece of work.
When The Smashing Pumpkins came out with, "Siamese Dream" in late July of 1993, another world was soon to be discovered.

From the pulse-pounding charged rhythm of, "Cherub Rock," through tracks like the ultra-personal, beautifully woven and gorgeous song, "Today," the undeniably hypnotic, "Hummer," the brilliant and dreamy, "Rocket," the emotionally charged, "Soma," and peaking at such unforgettable songs like, "Spaceboy," and "Sweet Sweet," "Siamese Dream" soars.

It's an album that really, never gets old, and only gets better the more and more you listen to it.

Copyrite MMVIII.

I was either 13 or 14 when I bought this album, I can't remember, it was sometime near my fourteenth birthday in March of 2006. I bought it on a whim, for $20 at a bookstore, which even then I realized was a rediculus amount to pay for an album, especially one by a band I had only barely heard of and for the life of me I could not remember any of their songs, only that I'd heard them before and thought I liked them. Well, anyway, I took it home and popped it into my cd player (yes, at that time I still used a cd player) and was immediately impressed. Still, for the longest time I never understood the deeper meanings of all the beautifully written songs, especially "Today", the song that later literally saved my life.
Anyway, sometime later, I was in 8th grade and, well, you may know, it was middle school. I was depressed. I stopped talking to my friends and started to become withdrawn. I would write constantly, and just listen to Siamese Dream (by that time I knew what it was about). I was suicidal, I'm not kidding. I hated everything, I, formerly a straight-A student started to fall in school. I quit caring but for some reason listening to Billy sing his heart out about the same things I felt comforted me immensely.
I am now a sophomore in high school, and I literally owe my life to this album. I love the Pumpkins more than ever, and I own every one of their albums, not to mention b-sides, demos, live cuts, and more. But that's another story, for another day.
I LOVE THE SMASHING PUMPKINS!!!
