January 31, 2008 - Setlist for Austria show... early!

I wouldn't usually do this, but since the set changes during the show, I figure there is no harm in showing this particular set early.

This is also how the set for last night was originally planned to turn out.

Enjoy early birds!!! It's still not going to turn out this way so prepare for surprises.

Hello Billy and the band!

I'm now fighting to finish my homeworks from college and don't miss my plane on day 15th to London!

I've been listen to Smashing Pumpkins since I am 6 years old. My older sister always listen to the good music!!!
So now, that I'm, 20 she has made me a surprise and bought a plane ticket and a ticket for the concert in the O2 Arena!

I can't express my happiness...! It will be a great night!

All the best from Portugal!

P.S.: The set list it's simply amazing! But if you can play Zero too... It will be the the cherry in the top of the cake!

Good skirt, Billy, it looks like enviroment-friendly christmas tree ))

Really, it was fantastic!!! THANK YOU!!! It was perfect!!!

I hope that it's a new start of Smashing Pumpkins, and I'm waiting for your new albums and tours.

And, of course, I hope to see Smashing Pumpkins in Moscow (but... my hope "is just a faith"...)

Really good to read your comments giving some detail about the gig. I love the pumpkins, best band ever for me but when I went to see them in glasgow last year the sound was "muddy" and unclear. Billy etc played amazing but its so frustrating when the sound is wrong. Off to the manchester gig so Im hoping they sort it. Do people think it is based on the sound system at each venue or the guys that do the sound all the time for the pumpkins?

Finally got to see the Smashing Pumpkins. Waited a lot of years for this.

The Stadthalle was a good sized venue. Austrian concert crowds tend to be somewhat passive, and this was no exception.

The standouts for me where Perfect (showed what ADORE could have been with Jimmy on drums - I love Adore, but Jimmy could have made it a historic album - how about a reissue you two?), 1979 (acoustic) and stand inside you love.

Billy has a fabulous stage presence. Wearing a grey long T with Saturn on it and some sort of silver plate mail skirt, he groves and moves in a feline kind of way, like a panther. Most songs were played at a quicker tempo than the studio versions, and the band really put in energy.

The accoustic songs were outstanding, excellent mixing, excellent sound.

Jimmy is a god on the drums. It kind of looked like he'd lost a bet on the number he had to sit and play tambourine on though

Generally the mixing was problematic, especially on the harder faster songs Billy played on the Strats. The block of songs through try, try, try and again the everlasting gaze through united states were weakened by the mixing. The high tones dominated but sounded muddy and unbalanced, smothering midrange, Billy's vocals and the melody. Jimmy's drumming was rock solid all night, and the songs Billy played on the SG's were better mixed.

it was great
