5.) "For Martha," Smashing Pumpkins

Lead singer Billy Corgan has written about his own mother, who died of cancer in 1996, in this song and in "Once Upon a Time." Corgan, who has performed "For Martha" onstage with his musician father, has been known to break out in tears midway through the song, which asserts, "Someday I'll follow you and see you on the other side."

.. my mom's name is Martha. She's still very much alive and this song makes me think of how much I'll miss her when she's gone. I love the song though, love it to bits and pieces.

My mum's favorite!

How fitting! This is my mom's favorite Pumpkins song, too. In fact, she took me to see my first SP show in 1998, and we both cried when the band performed the song. AWWWWWW.

One of the songs I relate to the most...

My own father passed away when I was 13, so of all the Pumpkins' songs, this one connects with me the most.

Another thing that ya'll forgot to mention in Billy's life was his divorce. In his Confessions, Corgan mentioned that the divorce took quite a toll on him and the Adore record.

That is such a beautiful song.

It always makes me sad though, as I think its one of the most emotional songs he wrote.
