Hello new friend. Nice to meet you too! I'm francophone so excuse me if my english is noit always 100% clear, I'll do my best!
I love everything Billy's done so far. I can't help it, it's just always excellent. About TFE, I totally agree, it's like the follow-up to Adore in my mind too. Adore could or should have been Billy's first solo album anyway as the absence of Jimmy would not allow the name "Smashing Pumpkins" somehow.
I love TFE then. I was thursty for rock when it came out, but when I knew SP was coming back to rock(Which they freaking did with Zeitgeist), I was totally in peace with TFE!! Excellent album, very original!
Talk to you soon. Have a good day!

WHY I'M A FAN
For many a-reason, I've been a fan most of my life(since 13/MellonCollie) and cannot ever imagine not being. Tho I liked the Pumpkins before that, I had seen some vids on Mtv, the earliest ones I remember the best from that time are probably 'Rhinoceros' and of course 'Today', and heard a few songs(not many) on the radio.
I became truely exsposed to SP after the release of Mellon Collie, my older brother let borrow his copy and almost didn't get it back, he didn't deserve to have it anyway...
This is the part I have a little trouble trying to put into words but here goes... In my confused, abused lil' mind I felt like the whole thing was written for me, I knew/know that it wasn't literally, but it felt like it was just the same as the words that float from my mouth into space, except it wasn't my mouth that was saying them. I was freaked-out, really freaked-out.
I also felt pretty stupid too, of course I knew I wasn't the only person to feel like I was sinking into an mental/emotional abyss and hanging on by a nose hair, but I had never heard anyone put my/those feelings into words the way that I felt them so accurately, 'F*ck You(Ode to No One)' is just 1 shining example of such words. It made me feel amazingly better to know that there was somebody out there that felt as I did, misery loves company, but I wouldn't wish my demons on anyone.
So, to put a tall-tale into a short box, I will leave it like this, If it wasn't for listening to SP when I did and learning more about the band, the people that were in it, and what made them what they were, I truely believe I would not be here today. The music helped me cope and kept me alive and gave me the strength to go into the next day as if it were intentional, and from how I felt back then I didn't expect to make it this far...
I wish I could thank Billy for helping me, but there's nothing I could do to repay all that I owe. Thru him I have been helped into becoming a stronger person, more capable of handling life's blows and lows. And helped me to understand that certain people are worth loving and trusting. I'll always love him for those reasons, always.
