Above all the band's generic openness or inclusivity. They are frank about their broad influences and appear genuinely excited about music. SP never seem to be afraid to try anything new but still appear to maintain a core identity. Billy is a good arranger and player. Jimmy is a phenomenal drummer. They are also amazing live. Band members past and present have all added something to the 'product', that in my view makes it special.

To listen to, they are emotional, exciting, innovative and interesting.

Re the break up and reunion, I felt it was handled well, foregrounding the music over the band as product. The new members Ginger, Jeff and Lisa perform fantastically and look at home in the band; there seems to be really good chemestry on stage. The previous members James Iha and Darcy, it goes without saying, shouldn't be forgotten.
