I've been reading Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.
It's now one of my favorites, about a girl who goes to highschool after being homeschooled. She's so far out there, "befuddling" that no one knows what to make of her, but she's genuine in all the goofy things she does.
My favorite character is Dori, Stargirl's best friend. She's more real to me than Stargirl herself. Dori has lunch with her when no one else will, Dori doesn't get jealous when Stargirl becomes popular, at one point they have a fight and Dori's in the right about it, but she doesn't say "I told you so". Dori does what a real friend does, she's there for Stargirl no matter what, and that's what's important when everything goes wrong.
The sequel Love, Stargirl is coming out in August.

Last night I had one of those dreams that just stays with you.
I was in a club, it was a Rocky Horror kind of scene. Someone had brought their little girl and I was chatting with her.
A young man was watching me, he was very feminine, his dark hair wasn't long but it fell sexy across his forehead, skinny, with eyeliner but not too heavy.
I thought of the book and said to myself, "He's a starboy."
Some beefy guy was giving him a hard time because of how beautiful he looked. Beefy went to hit him on the head, I thought he'd fall down. But the starboy just turned to Beefy and slapped him, like a woman would, only with a man's strength so it rang out. Beefy looked stunned and slunk away.
I asked the starboy if he was okay, and he said yes. He said his name was Daniel and that we were twins, not at birth but at heart. I looked in a mirror and sure enough, I was dressed like him with the same sort of eyeliner.
He draped his arm around me and we left with his friends.
I missed him when I woke up.
