Heyo! I've been busy working so I've only made quick checks to this place lately, but of course today is the day to return!

I have a dilemma, common to everyone here, I bet. I bought the standard version of the album, and (in the interest of saving money) thought maybe I could just download the 5,309 bonus tracks...but now I'm tempted, very tempted, to at least order the iTunes album. Is this a bad idea?

I'm so, sooo tempted...!!

(Listening to Tear. Appropriate, 'cause I'm torn...) ;P

Hey....to have a definitive Pumpkins collection I say get those bonus tracks....anyone remember the Aeroplane Flies High? I already had all those singles....I bought em' again...it truly is a sickness isn't it.

I bought the standard version of the album also, but I asked also the special edition with the incredible booklet. Maybe it gets impossible to find in some months.
If you are thinking about buying a new version, do it because if not maybe there's no oher opportunity to do it.

Hi, Well, I pre-ordered from Itunes at the end of June and was given 2 of the bonus songs - 'Zeitgeist' and 'Stellar', Zeitgeist is a great acoustic/quiet song, along lines of 'Czarina'...and Stellar is 6+ minutes. I don't know if you will get both or just Stellar, (don't know if that was any help, ha). 2 things that would be great - If more N.A. concerts were announced in the new year (N.Y.? Canada?) and if the Pumpkins came out with a follow up CD, maybe all acoustic, and be black and white cover. After all, weren't like 50 songs written for Zeitgeist (we've only heard 15 or so). And didn't Billy want to do this with Zwan, calling it the Dhali Zwan? That would be good.

Hi,
I love the spoken words part of Cupid du locke, and I agree with you wholeheartedly in the way I feel about the Pumpkins. There can be a lyric I hear and I go, wow, that is how I feel - why hasn't this ever been said before?
The music and the impact of everything about the Pumpkins can effect my mood so much; if I am sad, whatever they can pull me through and feel not so alone, or if I am in a good mood, they make me happy even more so. They remind me that there is still good in this world, those that still care and want things better for you and me and them...

WHY I'M A FAN
This is not going to be very original...

But I'm a fan because I love the music.

The Smashing Pumpkins' songs touch something deep inside me that nothing else can - not nature, not words, not art, not other music - something beautiful and wistful, that I never knew existed until I heard certain music, and I realized that it is and always has been a part of me. I think I probably expressed this best one day when I was listening to "Mayonaise" like 40 times in a row, and I wrote the following:

"there are places i want to go, and people i want to meet, and feelings i want to feel. i want to take the time to learn it all. i want to savor it, i want to never leave. i want to know everyone, learn their habits and tastes, and then move on. but to assimilate them; take them with me. i want to know every road less traveled as well as the highways. i want to move in straight lines and veer off the path. i want to leave no stone unturned. i want to climb the mountain and share its view. i want to know the land that the artist paints, to know it in its entirety, and not as grass and mud and leaves. i want to live in every town, and feel the despair of every town's youth. i want to buy food at every baseball diamond. i want to see the sunset from the train tracks, i want to drive away in a pickup truck. i want to escape within a hair's breadth. i want to lie down barefoot with my face in the grass while a storm washes over me. i want to absorb every sadness, and to cry for it all. i want night to fall when i'm all alone and lonely. i want to breathe in the moonlit breeze and smell where i've been. i want to achieve, i want to succeed, i want to make a difference. i want to choose. i want to keep driving into the night. i want to pull off to the side of the road to take a picture with the largest thermometer in the world. i want to know every sadness and every triumph and still believe that it's worth it.
