Well I've loved the band since I was 13 and the girl down the street played "Mellon Collie" for me during a time when I lived with my mother and listening to any music other than what she listened to (i.e. celine dione) was strictly forbidden. The lyrics seemes to reflect thoughts lifted straight from the head of this half-suicidal teen machine. Now I'm 24, I own or have owned all SP albums, though I wasn't wild about Billy's solo work (sorry Billy). I have been to see the Pumpkins twice, once in Sunrise, FL in, I think, '99 or '00 (the years get lost on my poor addled brain) during the short 10-stop "Adore" tour. Then I saw them in New Orleans this past weekend for Voodoo Fest and it was as incredible as I expected it to be - they were the best in show! I got my husband loving the band as well and this was his first time seeing the Pumpkins, so it was very exciting for both of us. I have a tattoo on my right arm of the flying hour glass from the liner notes in "mellon Collie" from the Bullet w Butterfly wings page, signifying my love for the band as well as the passage of time and coming of age, a process made less painful by this band's precious music. I also share a birthday with Billy Corgan, 3/17. I just signed up to the list because I wanted to see if Billy had blogged anything about New Orleans. I love that city and lan to move there next year. Right now, I need to go to my local Border's and grab me a coffee and a copy of Zeitgeist . . .
