i went to the nottingham gig where billy stomped of stage and then blamed the people who did turn up for the half empty arena. i feel disolusioned and insulted. If billy gave a crap he'd apologies. but he doesn't. You had to be there to understand billy's contempt for the crowd....

I have the blue one from iTunes. I want to get all of them so I can have all the bonus tracks but I really don't feel like spending that much money on one album. It kinda pisses me off that they did that, but I'll probably buy them eventually.
How was the show in Shepards Bush Empire?

The album was named after silent movie actress Lillian Gish. In an interview with Billy Corgan he once said "My grandmother used to tell me that one of the biggest things that ever happened was when Lillian Gish rode through town on a train, my grandmother lived in the middle of nowhere, so that was a big deal."

I guess it's something like this:

8. Modest Mouse
7. Rage Against the Machine
6. System of a Down
5. Tool (pref. recent)
4. Muse (pref. live)
3. Incubus
2. Foo Fighters
1. Smashing Pumpkins

Though honestly, the amount of time I have to consider my musical choices has plummetted, which makes me less than a connoisseur (and it probably shows).

I had a certain fondness for Radiohead until they churned out Kid A, and that fondness would probably return if I investigated their albums since.

Garbage were always enterprising, and Miss Stefani always impresses whether as part of No Doubt or her solo work (which I admire for their creativity, and not so much to listen to).

Beastie Boys are also fun, but aren't making the list at the moment. Live were a great band until they lost their edge.

To address the current scene: Quite fond of Rise Against, Three Days Grace, and I have an occasional liking for My Chemical Romance (who I take with a grain of salt and see largely in a self-parodying light, whether they want me to or not), AFI (albums only; they're appalling live) and there's a raft of obscure bands I also enjoy, but whose names I can't remember.

I should namedrop some New Zealand bands here, but being a terribly disloyal person, I'm not really fond of a lot of them, and the ones I do like have names I can't remember. Shihad are a decent listen though.

Finally, from other people's lists, I'll steal Arcade Fire, The Cranberries, Beck, Interpol, and Tori Amos. Oh, and Soundgarden. Why not. It was feeling left out.

Favourite SP songs come entirely down to mood. There's such variety in the catalogue that I'm rarely required to oblige my ears with other bands. Songs that have always meant something to me are Muzzle and TEITBITE. I'm one for preferring the heavier songs most of the time, but Pisces Iscariot is an album which always seems to pop up at the right moment.

From Zeitgeist: I love almost every track, though For God and Country and Pomp And Circumstances don't capture me as much as the others, and all three bonus tracks are great in their own right, but better off the album.

Sorry for the length :] If anyone read it, thanks!

Pumpkins

It's too hard to pick one favorite song, but a few of my favorites are Siva, Rhinocerous, Soma, Starla, Thru the Eyes of Ruby, Galapogos, Ava Adore, Pug, Shame, SIYL, Wound, With Every Light, The Everlasting Gaze, Cash Car Star and The Areoplane Flies High.
From Zeitgeist I love Bleeding the Orchid, Starz, Neverlost and Bring the Light.
I haven't seen the Pumpkins this year yet. I'm waiting for them to come to Los Angeles. But, I saw them three times during the Machina tour: at the Virgin Records signing, at the Universal Amphitheater in LA, and I saw their second to last show in Chicago at the United Center (that was AMAZING). I also went to Billy's poetry book signing and I saw him two years ago during his solo tour.
How about you?

WHY I'M A FAN
Interesting question. I love the pumpkins because, none of the albums contain a song that I would consider to be an "album filler". Even all the b-sides seem to be better than what most other bands can come up with. Always good live. My favorite song changes weekly. At the moment it is Home. Also they music (and artwork) has a beautiful, but sometimes uneasy quality that is very hard to achieve.
