I was going to post this in the main board, but it's kinda not related to the topic of a video about abuse.

Listen to aenima and 10,000 days back to back and you'd never know they were 2 different albums. Get someone who has never heard ANY Tool in their whole life, combine the 2 albums and randomise the tracks and see which ones stick out more from one to the other. They wouldn't be able to tell.

I used to love Tool until they brought out 10,000 days - sure, it's a great album.. there's no denying that.. but as far as having progressed from early days - they haven't changed. They still have the same old Tool sound. I felt ripped off when i heard 10,000 days, because I was expecting something completely awesome after the whole APC experience, especially because I absolutely loved APC as well, but it was the same stale boring old Tool. Same sound (tight powerful guitars), same themes ([bad word removed] God, [bad word removed] everyone), same everything.
Some of the songs from 10,000 days were made at the same time as those from aenima. The band were quite open about it.

As far as bashing bands - no. I don't need to bash other bands to try and make the pumpkins seem like a better band. I just stated the truth as I see it. I love the music that Tool makes. Tool used to be my favourite band for a long time, and i had huge amounts of admiration for Maynard in both Tool and APC.. but after APC disbanded and Tool made a sell-out album, they lost my respect.

10,000 days is a joke in terms of progression. That was a complete money-making scam. They ran out of money and only released something like that because they knew Tool fans had been waiting for YEARS and knew that every fan would go and buy it. What do you think the glasses and weird pictures on the "special album cover" were there for? To make people want to buy it because you can't illegally download an unusual cd cover. eMotive was a joke in terms of a decent album - revamped covers to get them out of their recording contract - that's all it was.

Still not convinced? Where the [bad word removed] was Tool's world tour? I'm still waiting.

I'll leave my time, money and passion for the bands who are interested in making decent music and actually giving a [bad word removed] about what their fans want.
