I've been a fan since 91, when I was lucky enough to come across a copy of Gish on cassette in my friend's music collection. She let me borrow it, and the rest is history. However, It was Siamese Dream that made me the devoted fan I am today. I was going through a pretty messy breakup (I'd gotten married at 18, and was only 19 when we got separated, which is when SD came out). The emotions captured on that album really mirrored my own life at that time, especially soma and silver[bad word removed] (how funny that the band's site will censor one of their own song titles!), and Billy expressed these feelings in such a beautiful, visceral way. I felt really connected to Billy on some level after that, which is why I chose the lyrics to Geek USA for my tattoo "in a dream we are connected". Although my love for the band is less romanticised than it was 14 years ago, I still have an enormous amount of respect for them, and will always consider them my favorite band.
