Pumpkins put on great show HOWEVER

This was the first Pumpkings show i have been to and i must say overall i did enjoy it.
The band was great even though missing the original line up. It was great that they played most of their major hits along with great songs like "lilly" which were well recieved by the audiance.
However much to my disapointment as i am sure others felt was the venue - Vector Arena which has been recently built but very poorly designed! The sound is terrrible as it creates an eco and anyone who is seated feels like they are not part of the show ie like watching something on the street from a balcony.
So the major disapointment was the venue which to be honest is turning me and others i know away from events it runs.
Another disapointment was the sound problems which effected the Queens of the Stongage who opened for the Pumpkins. Some tecnical error meant that we could not hear the vocals and ended in being an instumental performance (not what we paid for) and only acted to bore the audiance.
One thing that was a highlight not for the show but for the pumpkins was meeting Jimmy who was doing a meet and greet on Hobson st. I thought that it was really nice of him however found it interesting when a friend asked him "you must get really annoyed doing this" Jimmy said "Yea" Well then why agree to do it! He was not even promoting his single album! Another friend asked what his favorite album to make was Jimmy said "All of them" to which all his friends found very amusing! Hopefully he does deal with media often! but still very nice of him to do it! But if he is going to do it at least have a positve attitude - remember the people who came to see you buy your records without them where would you be. I only mention that last comment because during the concert Billy said we needed to buy the cd and the t shirts ect on sale so jimmy could buy a new farrari. When i told my friend whio asked about the album he said he needs the money for a personality transplant, due to his 'friendlyness" at the meet and greet.
But i must say i was very happy to see the Pumpkins and while there were things that annoyed me more so the poor choice in venue and sound problems with the Queens. it was still worhtwhile and i was worried for a time that the pumpkins were not going to come to NZ so very happy they came!
so thanks guys for coming and hope to see you again!
please dont use vector arena next time it really sux!

Yes, indeed, the Smashing Pumpkins have lost none of their live flair since the day they rocked the socks off every single person at BDO in 1997.
Billy and Jimmy were brilliant as always, but I have to say I am very impressed with the new Pumpkins Ginger and Jeff. They sure are intense guitarists and do my favourite band of all time proud!
5 STARS!! No less than 100% quality that was.
More please.

Im pretty offended by the $H!T review in the western leader seriously people that take offence to billies humour really shouldnt bother coming. Totally worth every penny rocked the socks off me an my friends and very graciously put up with our third world sound systems. Was lookin forward to some of the nice solo's but anyone could hear it just wasnt working he didnt stop or moan just carried on
100% awesum never thort id see the pumpkins and they left with a very good impression Rock on!

A beautifully blistering marathon set, nearly three hours long and the first time ever that I've seen a mosh pit run out of energy. The band totally annihilated us, full of energy and enthusiasm, rocking their hearts out as well as ours to the very last note.
Best arena/stadium show I've seen out of 15 SP concerts that I've been to over the years.....AAA+....hope Sydney is as good
Thankyou
